Teacher Application
Dear Prospective Teacher:
The Georgia Basketry Association (GBA) will hold its annual convention, GBA Basket Escape on February 27 – March 1, 2026. We are inviting you to submit basket proposals for this event, which draws weavers from across the state of Georgia and many other states.
The convention will be at the Sonesta at Gwinnett Place Hotel located at 1775 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, GA 30096. We will provide a small meal on Friday and lunch on Saturday.
Class size will be limited to a minimum of six (6) students and a maximum of twelve (12) students unless otherwise approved by you. Classes will be scheduled for Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Remember when submitting basket photos for our convention that we weave 6 hours on Friday, 8 hours on Saturday, and 4 to 6 hours on Sunday. Please submit no more than 3 basket choices per day.
The Georgia Basketry Association pays a stipend of $50 per day for each day that you teach. Teachers are no longer required to pay GBA dues, and you will be provided with a meal on Friday and Saturday. Please keep this in mind when you are determining your class fees.
Marketplace will be on Saturday evening. Tables will be available at no charge to teachers. The Vendor Room will also be available to all at a reasonable cost. Jean Nash is coordinating vendor booths and can be reached at dancinjean@aol.com or 404-822-6122.
This year we are again interested in providing our attendees with the option of purchasing a kit for a basket they couldn’t fit into their schedules. If you are interested in providing that option, then please indicate so by entering the cost in the kit fee section.
You will be notified in July following our jury selection.
